The R. Scully Rough 7
The R. Scully Rough 7 is something of a super group. It contains two members of the Morning 40 Federation (rest in peace), Ryan Scully, of course, and Michael Andrepont. Rob Cambre is the hot rod guitarist. Those who know him know that he pushes the envelope from the traditional into the noisey and psychedelic. C.J. Floyd holds down the bass, a true pro. Ratty Scurvics plays the Keys and guitar and jumps around the stage making a show of it. Mieshiya and Erica of Magnolia Beacon add back up vocals adding another level of soul to sometimes rock, sometimes gospel, sometimes psychedelia, and sometimes country.
"After the Forties Broke up," says Scully, "I had to do something different. Not just different than the Forties but different in general. It all came together perfectly. My solo band was gone except Mike so I was able to start fresh. I had always wanted to play with Ratty and I wanted his wild vibe. My stuff can be pretty traditional so getting guys like Ratty and Rob Cambre really help to blast it into the stratosphere. You add the girls and the shit just gets crazy."
"Probably the most exciting thing about having this new band is the new energy it gives my own music. While in the Forties my solo band was petty mellow because I used get my rocks off on stage with the Forties. Now I can't do just mellow stuff . I have to go ape shit, its in my blood, its who I am. I know sometimes I look like a tool but I can't help it, I love going ape shit. I guarantee that we will not bore the audience. If we do I'll personally refund your money."
